Egli Paint Service GmbH is a company specializing in the painting of aircraft. For this purpose, the company maintained a hangar right next to the public airport buildings at Altenrhein Airport. Since a new paint shop was built elsewhere at the airport, the company no longer needed the hangar. The owner of the company, Mr. David Egli, saw the need for hotel rooms in the region and wanted to build a hotel in place of the hangar. However, since he could not build the hotel himself or even keep it in stock, he decided to sell the property. The financial resources were needed to realize his new business premises.
red KG AG was given the mandate to develop a hotel concept for the site. However, the proposed hotel concept did not fully utilize the property, which is why a mixed-use building was developed together with commercial space and parking. RLC Architekten AG from Rheineck was brought in to implement the architectural requirements. They checked the building regulations, prepared volume studies and implemented the space program from red KG AG.
red KG AG's mandate also includes the acquisition of an operator for the hotel. This was found with Dorint, which wants to run the hotel with its 3-star brand Essentials by Dorint from 2026. The rental agreement was negotiated with the operator in advance and was to be concluded together with the purchase agreement.
After the negotiated rental agreement was available and a project that could be approved had been drawn up, the project was placed on the investor market, this was done in cooperation with SPGI Zürich AG from Zollikon. On February 28, 2022, a purchase agreement was concluded with Rhomberg Bau AG from St. Gallen, which also made the rental agreement with Dorint legally binding.
It took 13 months from Mr. Egli's first contact with red KG AG to the signing of the purchase agreement.
